Speaker: Prof Jan Jans of Tilburg University of the Netherlands
Prof. Jan Jans, STD, studied moral theology at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium) and is currently associate professor of ethics at Tilburg School of Humanities (the Netherlands).
Since 2001, he has been visiting professor at St. Augustine College of South Africa.

Speaker :Julian Filochowski
Julian FilochowskiJulian Filochowski is Strategic Development Adviser at Jesuit Missions in London; a Director of the Tablet magazine; Denis Hurley Association trustee; and Chair of the Romero Trust.
After studying Economics at Cambridge Julian became a Volunteer in Central America before joining the Catholic Institute for International Relations (CIIR). This involved campaigning on Latin American human rights issues, working closely with Brazil’s Archbishop Helder Camara and Oscar Romero in El Salvador. There followed 21 years as CEO of CAFOD (Catholic Agency for Overseas Development).
During a ‘sabbatical’ year studying the writings of Archbishop Romero, Julian was awarded an honorary doctorate in Human Rights by the Jesuit University in San Salvador.

The speaker: Sr. Rose Pacatte, Daughters of St. Paul
Sr. Rose Pacatte, MEd in Media Studies, is the Director of the Pauline Centre for Media Studies (PCMS) in Culver City, CA. USA. She is a noted national and international media literacy specialist and is an award-winning the film/TV columnist for St. Anthony Messenger (since 2003) and the National Catholic Reporter (since 2009) and contributes to periodicals and journals on media literacy education, spirituality, theology, and catechesis. Sr. Rose is on the boards of the Catholic Academy for Communication Arts Professionals, Journal for Media Literacy, Catholics in Media and is a co-director of the National Film Retreat. She has served on the Catholic and ecumenical juries of the Venice, Berlin, and Locarno, and Newport Beach film festivals.
Sr. Rose directs the Media Literacy Certificate Program at the PCMS and facilitates online courses on the Church and communications and media, faith and values for the University of Dayton. She is the co-author of the award-winning Lights, Camera, Faith series with Peter Malone, MSH, and with Sr. Gretchen Hailer, RSHM, is the co-author of Media Mindfulness: Educating Teens about Faith and Media (St. Mary’s Press, 2007).
Their book: Our Media World: Teaching Kids K-8 about Faith and Media was released in January 2010 and was awarded the Educommunication Award from the International union of the Catholic Press and received an award from the US and Canada Catholic Press Association in 2011.
